This research is conducted to study the quality of VGI for disaster management in the context of Marine Spatial Data Infrastructure (MSDI). The aim of this study is to better understand the potential and quality of VGI in terms of how VGI participants can provide geospatial information about marine and coastal areas. If you agree to participate in the study, you will be asked to answer general questions and enter (via mouse click) spatial data, e.g. location, on the map according to the photos of various marine incidents.
There are no foreseeable risks to participating in this research. There are also no direct benefits, such as financial compensation to you as a participant, other than contributing to the research in this area.
The data in this study will be kept confidential. This means that the content of the surveys will not be linked to the actual names of individuals in doctoral thesis, scientific papers, published articles or elsewhere. When preparing accurate research documents, we will identify participants by number and keep a confidential list of relevant corresponding information. Only members of the research team will have access to this information. It is understood that no computer transmission can be completely secure, but reasonable efforts will be made to protect the confidentiality of your transmission. Identifiers may be removed from the data and de-identified data may be used for future research as per EU GDPR.
Your participation in the study is voluntary and you may withdraw from the study at any time without giving a reason. If you decide not to participate in the study or to withdraw from the study, you will not suffer any disadvantage or loss of benefits to which you would otherwise be entitled.
